-(knock
knock) (door opens) John Doe Defendant stands there... "Hey John!...What's
up?" John looks confused..."uhh hi." "You are John......aren't you?"
John says, "uhh yea..who are you again?" "I am a court process server
and here is a summons from the court...thanks...bye." (door slams
shut). Has this ever happened to you? Well...this is what we do
every day.
There
are various techniques ranging from the up-front approach to the
sneaky kind reserved for the evaders. Sometimes, I have to catch
them with a mouth full of spaghetti at a local restaurant eating
dinner. Most of the time, I just knock on the door and request the
person to be served come to the door. To serve someone in California,
the law states that a personal service is the delivery of the documents
in that person's presence. It's not a game of tag out there. Occasionally,
someone I am serving will refuse to touch the papers or take them
even though I have identified them as the servee or they have admitted
to being that person. At that point.. I just drop them in the person's
presence and tell them they have been served with court papers.
Process serving is a tricky business. It isn't always as simple
as one would think. I have alot of success catching folks though.
Also, I trained in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Academy about
15 years ago when I was a deputy. It was the best and hardest thing
I've ever done.
My
mission is to effect a good service, and return neat, professional,
correct and well done documentation regarding it to my clients.
I get compliments on my proof of services, because they are done
right. I have well trained and certified registered process servers
all over California and Nevada. The local serves, I handle personally
or my two excellent servers take care of, under my supervision.
Your service request can be customized in a million ways. Call me
and we can discuss your concerns, what you need done and how you
want your service completed. If you don't want to spend the time
caring about the details of a service, no worries. We will take
care of it all. Once it is done, I get on the computer and type
out your proof and print it out on a new printer just added to the
office. I personally inspect everything that goes out of this office
before it is sent on the way.

This stands for California Association of Photocopiers and Process
Servers. CAPPS only accepts registered process servers who are
properly
licensed and have been screened by the membership committee. We
are Certified CAPPS Process Servers. This means that we have studied
under the CAPPS continuing educational program and passed the extensive
exam. The exam tests our knowledge of current laws, procedures,
case law, practical information regarding your documents and understanding
of process service nomenclature in general. This exam must be taken
every two years to keep the certification. When you see the C.C.P.S.
after our process server's name, it gives credit of certification.
This education and exam is not required by our state or local licensing
entities. We do it to stay professional, and knowledgeable for
you.
